The quickest way to connect your BigCommerce store is the Pricefy app: see How to connect your BigCommerce store to Pricefy. If you prefer not to install an app, you can connect your store with a store-level API account instead: a token you create in your control panel, with only the access Pricefy needs.
It takes a few minutes in your BigCommerce control panel, then one step in Pricefy.
Before you start
- A BigCommerce control panel user that can create API accounts: the store owner, or a user the owner has given this permission.
- The token is shown only once, when you create the API account: keep this page open while you copy it.
Step 1: create the API account
1) In your BigCommerce control panel, go to Settings › Store-level API accounts and click Create API account.
2) Under Token type, choose V2/V3 API token, and enter a name, for example Pricefy.
3) Under OAuth scopes, set these two scopes and leave all the others on None:
| Scope | Level | What Pricefy uses it for |
|---|---|---|
| Products | modify | Read your products, prices and stock, and update your prices when you use repricing |
| Information & settings | read-only | Read your store currency, language and country, and check the connection |
With Products set to read-only, Pricefy imports your catalog but cannot update your prices. BigCommerce does not let you change the scopes of an API account once it is saved: to change them, delete the account and create a new one.
4) Click Save.
Step 2: copy the API Path and the Access Token
1) BigCommerce shows the credentials of the API account in a window and downloads them as a text file.
2) Copy the API Path, which looks like https://api.bigcommerce.com/stores/abc123/v3/, and the Access Token. Pricefy does not need the Client ID or the Client Secret.
3) Keep the downloaded file somewhere safe: BigCommerce does not show the Access Token again.
Step 3: connect your store in Pricefy
1) In Pricefy, go to Settings › Product Feed and choose BigCommerce.
2) Enter your store URL (for example https://www.yourstore.com), select API account and paste the API Path and the Access Token.
3) Click Connect Now. Pricefy checks the token with your store before saving anything, then imports your catalog.
Troubleshooting
“BigCommerce did not accept the access token”. Check, in this order:
- you pasted the Access Token, not the Client ID or the Client Secret;
- the API Path and the Access Token come from the same API account;
- the API account still exists under Settings › Store-level API accounts;
- the API account has Information & settings set to read-only (or modify).
“Paste the API Path BigCommerce shows for your API account”. The API Path field takes the address shown with the credentials, like https://api.bigcommerce.com/stores/abc123/v3/, not your store URL.
Your prices are not updated on your store. The API account needs Products set to modify. Create a new API account with that scope and connect with its token.
Change or remove Pricefy’s access
- Your store stops accepting the token, for example because the API account was deleted: click Reconnect on the Product Feed page. Pricefy reconnects your store through the Pricefy app, and your catalog, competitors, matched products and settings stay as they are.
- Disconnect Pricefy: click Disconnect on the Product Feed page in Pricefy, then delete the Pricefy API account in BigCommerce.
